Okatse Canyon is located in the sleepy village of Gordi in Georgia. This is a natural wonder that you simply have to see to believe. Offering breathtaking views, the canyon is home to the Okatse river. It also boasts several waterfalls. The highest one is Kinchka waterfall, which is one of the tallest in all of Georgia.

Secure pathways hugging the cliff face allows you to see the canyon from an amazing view point. The last part of the pathway ends with a cantilever bridge overhanging the canyon, ensuring you enjoy the breathtaking views to the canyon and its surrounds. The bridge is about 800 meters long. It is more than 50 meters above the river. Hence a word of caution for those who suffer from the fear of heights! Even if you are fine with heights, you might find yourself holding tight onto your camera in fear of dropping it!

There is an entrance fee of 7 GEL to the bridge (closed on Mondays)․ However Kinchkha Waterfall is accessible anytime for free. There are also many beautiful pathways for some hiking to appreciate the nature up close and personal.

Martvili

While exploring this beautiful part of Georgia, you can also consider enjoying the nearby Martvili Canyon. A popular spot with the locals and tourists alike. Here you can rent a paddle boat to ride the shallow bright blue river and experience the canyon first hand. This picturesque canyon will have you stopping at every bend of the river for photo opportunities. 

A trip to Martvili and Okatse Canyon make a perfect day trip from Kutaisi. Visiting from Tbilisi, it is best to plan an overnight trip. Basic accommodation can be found in the nearby villages, however if you are seeking something more comfortable, then best to reach Kutaisi.
